What We Do
Northstone’s Infrastructure team supports projects across Europe through the recycling of contaminated soil, land clearance, and the supply of high-quality Swedish granite for port and road developments. Every project is unique — we tailor our solutions to optimize logistics, reduce CO₂ emissions, and ensure the success of our partners’ goals.
Alternative Fuels
Northstone’s Alternative Fuels Team has been involved in landfill diversion projects since 2009. Our fuels are derived from non-recyclable waste, turning waste into energy. This approach not only increases recycling but also reduces CO₂ emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
Biomass
Northstone supplies renewable fuels to the power industry in Scandinavia, sourced from forestry by-products. Our raw materials are unsuitable for paper or timber, allowing us to maximize the use of each tree.
We also own GreenTech Partner, a company focused on land clearance and the harvesting of tree stumps. These forest residues and stumps are processed at two dedicated sites in Stockholm to ensure logistical efficiency. The processed biomass is delivered directly to power plants across Scandinavia.
Ash
Northstone offers comprehensive disposal solutions for bottom ash produced at waste-to-energy and biomass plants. Sorted ash is reused in engineering and soil stabilization projects by our Infrastructure team. Fly ash is safely transported in sealed containers to certified disposal sites.
We also manage the complete transportation process for power plant by-products — including regulatory notifications — ensuring reliable recycling or disposal.
Contaminated Soil
Northstone provides recycling and disposal options for contaminated soil through our network of licensed facilities across Scandinavia or as backfill for infrastructure projects. Our service includes project support, soil testing and classification, regulatory notifications for cross-border shipments, and full logistical solutions to the final destination.
All services are carried out in compliance with European environmental standards.
