Since 2009, Northstone’s Alternative Fuel Team has been actively involved in landfill diversion projects, producing sustainable alternative fuels from non-recyclable waste.
By harnessing waste as a valuable energy source, we boost recycling efforts while significantly reducing CO₂ emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
Co2 Reduction
Using waste as fuel not only promotes recycling but also helps lower CO₂ emissions and reduces fossil fuel consumption, contributing to a cleaner environment.
RDF
Refuse Derived Fuel – a low to mid-range fuel ideal for combined heat and power plants.
SRF
Solid Recovered Fuel – a high-energy fuel with low chlorine content, suitable for cement kilns and industrial applications.
TDF
Tire Derived Fuel – shredded or baled car tires, used either for rubber recycling or energy recovery.
PRODUCTION PROCESS
Northstone has been supplying alternative fuels to power plants and industrial facilities.
Our fuels are carefully engineered from non-recyclable waste or from reject forest products not suitable for paper or timber goods.

Incoming materials are carefully sorted to remove bulky items and recyclable components.

Materials undergo shredding to separate metals.
03.
Additional manual or mechanical sorting removes further recyclables.
04.
The remaining non-recyclable material is baled into one-ton bundles for efficient storage and transport.
